"Lend unto Allah a goodly Loan. Whatever good you shall forward on your behalf, you shall find it with Allah, as better and richer in reward." (Al -Muzzammil 20)

Spending in the way of Allah is one of the most rewarding acts of worship we can undertake. Indeed, it is said that Iman (belief) without Infaq (spending in the way of Allah) is Nifaq (hypocrisy.)

It is by giving charity that we break the shackles that ties us to the Dunia (world.) Sadaqah strengthens the character of Muslims enabling us to go on and make greater sacrifices for which the reward in countless.

Allah (swt) states in the Qur'an that:
"The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain, out of which grow seven ears in every ear a hundred grains." (Bakarah: 261)

Whatever we spend on ourselves here and now are only for our temporary sustenance while whatever we give in the way of Allah is an eternal investment that provided everlasting sustenance. The Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) vigorously encouraged this aspect of Islam. He said:

"A generous person is close to Allah, close to Paradise, close to people, and far from Hell. However, a miserly person is far from Allah, far from Paradise, far from people but close to Hell. Allah loves more an ignorant man who is generous that a worshiper who is miserly." (Tirmidhi)

And he said:

"If I had a mountain of gold, I would not like to save any of it for more that three days, except something I put aside to pay my debts"(Bukhari.)

  • The Pilgrimage To Makkah
Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as is practiced by people of all colors and races here in this ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all the other Prophets of the Holy Scriptures. For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.
    The Essence of Hajj
The significance of Hajj as a pillar of Islam is quite evident from the reward this act of worship brings to its performer. As has been reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the person performing the Hajj is forgiven and purified as if he/she is a newborn baby. Although its importance and formalities are generally known and talked about, its essence, spirit, and impact on a performer?s behavior and personality are not generally understood or remembered.
