Al Mizan Tahfiz-ul Qur'an School

Al Mizan was established to specialise in the memorisation of the Qur'an. Started in 2000, the class consisted of 18 students and was initially run on a part-time basis. This provided the foundation for us to progress in to a full-time school in January 2002.

We now have 36 students who are memorising the Qur'an, under the guidance of Hafiz Qari Abu Tayeb (Mu'azzin and Imam of East London Masjid) and Shaikh Hafiz Hossain Ibrahim (Graduate of the University of Madinatul Munawarah). Al Mizan is based at the East London Mosque.

At the moment we have 2 students who will finish memorising the Qur'an within 1-2 Years, approximately 10 who will finish in 2 years and the rest in 2-3 years insha-Allah.

Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as is practiced by people of all colors and races here in this ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all the other Prophets of the Holy Scriptures. For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.
    The Essence of Hajj
The significance of Hajj as a pillar of Islam is quite evident from the reward this act of worship brings to its performer. As has been reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the person performing the Hajj is forgiven and purified as if he/she is a newborn baby. Although its importance and formalities are generally known and talked about, its essence, spirit, and impact on a performer?s behavior and personality are not generally understood or remembered.
